Paris – Porte Maillot
The Paris Metro station of Porte Maillot is one of the original stations built in the late 1800s and was officially opened in July of 1900. The station incorporates a loop, which allows the trains to turn around without having to reverse. Being in the city centre, Porte Maillot is one of the busier Metro stations in Paris
The station is the terminus for line 1, which connects La Defense-Grande Arche to Chateau de Vincennes along 10 miles of railway track. Porte Maillot also has the regional express network line C running through the station. Line C of the ‘RER’ travels 115 miles from Pontoise all the way to St-Martin d’Etampes in the south.
The station has impressive marble floors and beautiful Art Neuveau architecture. Restrooms, food stalls, ATMs and vending machines can be found in the station. Being one of the busier stations in Paris, there are many restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. With so many hotels in the near area, spending the night is an option.
Taxis are available outside of Porte Maillot but are rather expensive. Car hire collection from the station allows independent travellers the freedom to explore the city in their own time. It is advised that you book your rental car before departing to ensure the best rates.
