Before 2007, a Merlin-like figure looked out from one of the high turrets on the building. The real style of the hotel is based on an actual castle located in Carcassone, France.

The Excalibur is located at one of the intersections of Las Vegas Boulevard that makes it difficult for pedestrians to pass. The hotel has fixed the problem by linking the Excalibur with the New York Hotel and the Tropicana Resort and Casino by overhead pedestrian bridges. The Excalibur is also connected to the MGM Mirage, the Luxor, and Mandalay Bay by a free tram service.

The Excalibur open in the summer of 1990 and it was originally built by Circus Circus. This is one of the few modern hotels on the strip that features attractions for children as well as adults. There is an arcade and a motion simulator. It is also home to one of the largest family swimming pools on the strip.

Even the restaurants in the hotel stick with the Excalibur theme. There is the Roundtable Buffet, the Steakhouse of Camelot, and Sir Galahad’s Prime Cuts. You can also check out the Sherwood Forest Café. The hotel also offer a medieval jousting show.
