Apeldoorn is a town that is located in the Gelderland province of the central area in the Netherlands. The west half of the town is on the Veluwe ridge, and the east side is on the Ijssel valley. It is a well wooded and picturesque neighborhood.

There are a couple of places that you will want to take your family to when you come here for a holiday. There is the Apenheul Monkey Reserve and the Koningin Juliana Toren amusement park, which means Queen Juliana Tower. The monkey reserve is a great place to go to see different types of monkeys and apes. Some of the monkeys are even allowed to roam free among the visitors. The amusement park was constructed in 1910 and, of course, Queen Juliana was who it was named after. It is located close to the Apenheul Monkey Reserve too.

The professional football club Jupiler League (AGOVV Apeldoorn) has made Apeldoorn its home. The League plays their matches at the Sportpark Berg & Bos, which is the stadium on the western side of Apeldoorn. However, they are not the most successful club in the town. The Piet Zoomers/Dynamo is a volleyball team who has been named the Dutch A-League champions.

There is a new stadium that is being built, called Omnisportcentrum, which is for track cycling and for the volleyball team, because the town is growing quickly, along with their interest in sports. The town also has future plans to build a stadium for figure skating.
