Car Rental Adelaide - Exploring Adelaide
Many people stop by Adelaide en route to Ayers rock or Western Australia. A relaxing place to break up the tedious journey, Adelaide is quite central to the south coast of Australia, and there is plenty to see by car in the surrounding areas while youre there.
A short ride out of the centre, along the ocean front, is the lovely seaside suburb of Glenelg, popular for day trips.
One of the worlds greatest drives is the Great Ocean Road -- heading to Melbourne along Victorias southern coastline. En route its possible to detour via the Grampian Mountains, a fine example of the great Aussie bush.
Heading south from Adelaide, Kangaroo island is popular. It is unspoit, teeming with wildlife, and has some lovely scenery. South Australia is also famous for its vineyards, with plenty of excellent wine-tasting opportunities open to the public among the private estates of McLaren vale and the Barossa valley.
The Adelaide hills behind the city are good for walking and have excellent views of the sunset. Located here is the curious and authentic German settlement of Hahndorf.
Heading North to Ayers rock, you can pass through the timeless, lonely, Flinders range and stop off overnight in the curious underground opal mining town of Coober pedy (escaping the heat!).
