Car Hire in Rome - Via Giolitti - Mini guide to Rome - Via Giolitti

For more than two thousand years, Italy’s eternal city has lured visitors from afar with its culture, arts and history. More recently, the city has become popular with visitors for its lively nightlife, dining and shopping. While it is undoubtedly one of the world’s most popular destinations, it is also one of the busiest. Many visitors, staying in hotels near Via Giolitti, enjoy day trips, by car, to escape the hustle and bustle of Rome.

Car hire allows for completely independent exploration of Italy. While buses and trains are available, they can leave visitors frustrated as they can be time-consuming and costly. For those who prefer freedom while touring this Mediterranean peninsula, hiring a vehicle for the duration of their stay is essential.

Just an hour’s drive from Rome leads visitors to Cassia, a town set in the countryside. Parco Regionale de Veio, just outside of the town on Via Cassia, is an archaeological park featuring many important Etruscan sites. Those wishing to explore the area may do so either on foot or on horseback.

Civitavecchia, meaning ancient town, is less than an hour’s drive from Rome. This ancient port overlooks the Tyrrenhian sea. Once an Etruscan settlement, this modern city provides breathtaking views. While still used as a fishing port, the harbour features ferry connections to Spain, Sardinia, Tunisia and Sicily.

Tivoli, formerly a Sabine settlement, is just forty minutes drive from Rome. Visitors to this small town are drawn to its relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Those who enjoy antiquities should visit the town’s world famous villas. Villa Adriana, located outside of the town, was the second century retreat of Emperor Hadrian. Villa D’Este, the 16th century home of Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este.
