Mini guide to Rennes Rail Station
Rennes Rail Station
Rennes is located in the northwest of France in east Brittany. The original town centre is built on top of a hill and is where the Ille and Vilaine rivers meet. Rennes Rail Station was built outside of the town in 1857 but since then the city has expanded and the station now lies in the middle of town.
Rennes is connected to Paris on the high speed TGV line, which makes the journey in less than two hours. The Rennes Rail Station also serves Brittany with trains departing to Brest, Lannion, Nantes, Quimper and Saint Malo regularly every day.
The Rennes Rail Station facilities include parking, taxi and bus stands, car rental agencies, ATMs, restaurants, cafes, toilets and newsagents. Being in the middle of town, many more restaurants, bars and cafes can also be found nearby.
The city is filled with many buildings from the 17th century, including the impressive Parliament de Bretagne and la Motte a Madame promenade. The fine arts museum, home to many beautiful works of recent times, is positioned on Quai Emile Zola along the Vilaine River.
Although buses travel around Rennes and the surrounding areas, driving yourself in a rental car is the best way to get the most out of your holiday. A hire car can be booked through us in advance to ensure the best deal possible. Collection from the Rennes Rail Station is easily organised.
