Car Hire Potsdam-Babelsberg - Mini guide to Potsdam-Babelsberg
There is a lot to see and do when you come to Potsdam, but one of the main things that you are going to want to see is the amazing collection of palaces. When you are here your family is going to want to experience as many as possible, and that means you have your work cut out for you.
A good starting point is perhaps the Sanssouci Palace. This palace is not the biggest by any means, but it is a great introduction, and is the former summer palace of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia. After that you may want to head over to the New Palace. This palace was built to celebrate the end of the Seven Year War. Next on the list, try the Orangery Palace. Back in the day this palace was used to house foreign royal guests that came to the area.
If after this you have an appetite for more palatial splendour, you must visit the Charlottenhof Palace. This is a shining example of neoclassical architecture and is stunning to look at. The palace was built way back in 1862 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the most prominent neoclassic architect in Prussia at that time. Whether it is culture and architecture you’re after, or just a beautiful German city to spend some time wandering around, Potsdam is sure to have something for you.
