Car Hire

Poitiers Airport, also known as Poitiers-Biard Airport, is located in eastern France, just under two miles west of the city centre of Poitiers. It is a popular gateway to the Vienne area of France. The airport is easily accessible by self-driving, being located just off the A10/E5 motorway. Driving
The latest driving regulation in France is the requirement for all vehicles to carry a breathalyser (starting March 2013) – make sure the breathalyser is certified with the French NF mark and is valid. If stopped by the police and your vehicle does not have a breathalyser, you will be fined £9 on the spot. Speeding is strictly enforced. It is illegal to use radar detectors in France as well as satellite navigation systems that pin-point where speed cameras are located. All passengers must wear seatbelts.

Transport

Driving to the city centre of Poitiers is easy with a rental vehicle and takes just under 10 minutes. Shuttle buses are also available to Poitiers. Other transportation option includes taxis.

Trains
There is no train station at Poitiers Airport. The closest train station is in the city centre of Poitiers, Gare de Poitiers, a 15-minute drive from the airport. Trains are operated by French national railway company SNCF and provide links to most major cities in France, as well as to other European rail networks. A one-way ticket to Paris costs roughly £50.

Taxis
Taxis are conveniently located right outside the terminal building. They are generally available when flights arrive; however, if no taxis are available, then passengers should ask the information desk to call a taxi. All taxis are metered and rates increase between 20:00 and 06:00.

Buses
There is a shuttle bus service from the airport to the city centre. Bus times coincide with Ryanair flight arrivals. The bus journey takes between 10-15 minutes and a bus ticket costs around £4.

Facilities

Terminals
This airport services less than 150,000 passengers a year and has one terminal. Flights are on offer primarily through Ryanair and Airlinair, and provide connections to the UK and other French cities, such as Lyon. Ryanair offers both scheduled and seasonal flights, such as to London-Stansted and Edinburgh.

Parking
There are two car parks at the airport, P1 and P2, with parking for roughly 400 vehicles. Parking for the first 20 minutes is free. The daily parking rate is £12 for the first two days and £4 for each additional 24 hours thereafter. The P2 car park allows for seasonal parking, with tickets valid for up to six months. Customers at the L’Oree du Ciel restaurant can park for free. Simply present the restaurant bill when exiting the car park.

Wi-Fi internet access is available at the airport.

Accessibility
The terminal building is fully accessible to passengers with reduced mobility. The airport provides ramps and other amenities for passengers in wheelchairs. Passengers can also arrange for special assistance through their airline.

Restaurants and Bars
There is one restaurant/bar at the airport, the L’Oree du Ciel. It is known for its beautiful views of the runway. Those dining at the restaurant benefit from free parking at the airport.

Poitiers Airport has limited financial services. There is one 24-hour ATM located just outside the terminal building.

Shopping
There are no shopping facilities at Poitiers Airport aside from a kiosk which sells reading material and snacks.
