Pforzheim is a township of about 119,000 people in the state of Baden-Württemberg, located in the south-western regions of Germany, at the gate to the famed Black Forest. It is known all over the world for its industries like jewellery design and watch-making. Due to the world recognition and the great income that Pforzheim earned, it was nicknamed Goldstadt or the City of Gold. With an approximate area of 96 square kilometres, it is located at the confluence of three prominent rivers, The Enz, The Nagold and The Würm.

Pforzheim does not owe allegiance to any specific administrative district as such, though it plays a host to the administrative offices of the Enz district that surrounds the town. Pforzheim has a large number of places that would interest any tourist, especially those who are interested in archaeology and history. There is a world famous archaeological site called “Kappelhof”.

This area has numerous medieval excavation projects that bring about artefacts from many eras, although the majority are Roman. The presence of the Minerals Museum and the Museum of the German Democratic Republic, and finally the Civic Museum of Eutigen, are also attractions well worth visiting when you are in Pforzheim.
