Palanga Airport has been around since 1937 and trained Lithuanian Air Force pilots. In 1991 it became a national airport owned and run by the state. In fact, it was the country's second airport.
The airport uses two adjacent terminals, the older for destinations in the Shengen Zones while the newer handles other destinations. Renovations are planned for the old building of the terminals this year.The airport also has parachuting and pilot training lessons.
The shop is located in the Passenger Terminal post check-in and cigarettes, drinks, and perfumes are available for purchase by departing passengers. A cafe is available for both arriving and departing passengers . The cafe also has souvenirs and phone cards available. A bar is located in the departure hall for those unable to make it to the cafe with various drink choices available ranging from fruit drinks and coffee to stronger drinks. First aid is available if needed as well as services for the disabled. Public telephones are available as is currency exchange. Baggage carts are provide free of charge for the use of passengers.
