Moers is a city located in the west-central Germany to the west of Essen. The city was formed in 1300 and is most famous for its bustling market centre. The city has a population around 107,000. Moers, also known as Murse or Meurs, is situated in the Wesel district in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the left side of the Rhine River. It lies immediately to the west of Duisburg, in the Ruhr industrial region. The site of the Roman town Asciburgium, Moers city was first mentioned in the 9th century and urbanized as a medieval flax market around the castle of the Counts of Moers which is now a museum. It was formed in 1300s and is a great place to visit on your vacation.
