Another example of the clout that surrounds the Mia Station is the Myeongdong financial district. But the most intriguing building, which sticks out in a bold way is the Myeongdong Cathedral, an important place in the history of the country and seat of the first Roman Catholic parish built in the Republic of Korea.

The first stone for the cathedral was set down in 1892 in a ceremony held by Emperor Gojong. The building wasn’t finished, because of war and other delayed until 1898. These days the church is still home to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Seoul.
