Hendon is a development about seven miles northwest of Charing Cross in London. There are a number of various historical areas and places of significance if you are looking into the history of the London area. Historically this area was part of the county of Middlesex and there is evidence that a Roman settlement was in the area. Industry was mostly manufacturing and developed in the late 1800s. Hendon is home to the RAF Museum, which used to be an active Aerodrome. There is also evidence of a Saxon Settlement in the area as well. Of the older manor houses that once dominated the area including the former Hendon Place only Hendon Hall still remains which dates from 1756. There are a number of small shops in the area and the area is known for constant and significant redevelopment. It has a long history of adapting and changing with the times. The Quadrant area and Sentinel Square are the best places to look for little shops like Kipling’s, which is a curry house or Topkapi, which sells kebabs. The area is serviced by the Hendon Central Tube station; the Hendon Railway station and regular bus routes.
