Mini guide to Limassol

Located on the southern coast of Cyprus, the seaside town of Limassol attracts visitors with its beautiful beaches, stunning coastal scenery and magnificent architectural heritage.

The centre point of the town is the imposing 14th century Limassol Castle, built on the site of a former Byzantine citadel. The castle also houses the acclaimed Cyprus Medieval Museum. After exploring the castle and grounds, wander through the narrow ancient streets and soak up the traditional atmosphere of the old town center. Of interest are the Archaeological Museum, which exhibits local antiquities, and the Folk Art Museum, with its fabulous collection of 19th century Cypriot Folk Art.

The other principal attraction of Limassol is its beautiful beach area. Partake in the many watersports on offer, including windsurfing, parasailing and boating, or just relax on the beach and bask in the warm Mediterranean sunshine.

Limassol has some of the best accommodations and restaurants to be found on Cyprus, and the nightlife is vibrant and exciting, centred round the beachside cafes, pubs, bars and clubs.

The surrounding Lemesos region has several interesting destinations for day trips. Sample more of the stunning coastal scenery along the bay and out to the southwest cape, or, alternatively, head inland to the quaint mountain villages and magnificent slopes of the Trodos range and the beautiful Pitsylia area.

Larnaka or Pafos International Airports receive regular flights from many European cities, from here transfer shuttles or taxis can be arrange to get to Limassol.
