Car Hire Knoxville Airport - Mini guide to Knoxville Airport
The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) operates two airports serving Knoxville and East Tennessee. Knoxville Airport has all the facilities you would expect to find in an important provincial airport. Car rental, ATM, restaurant and cafe concessions all jostle side by side in the terminal building.
McGhee Tyson Airport is the premier airport in East Tennessee, 12 miles south of downtown Knoxville. This airport, with more than 2,000 acres, serves the needs of the commercial airline industry as well as air cargo, military and general aviation. It is located next to Alcoa Highway (State Highway 129).
Downtown Knoxville has a fascinating history. It doesn't stand still, though, but continues to grow and change. Historic buildings are being refurbished, such as the Tennessee Theatre and the East Tennessee History Centre. A new wing of this facility has recently been opened on Gay Street. You will be awed and impressed as you explore Downtown Knoxville's cultural assets, and everything Knoxville has to offer.
There is a hum and a sense of activity in downtown Knoxville. The Market Square, Volunteer Landing and World's Fair Park are home to festivals and concerts all year round. Three theatres provide stages for entertainment from around the world. There are over a dozen clubs in the historic Old City all within two blocks. There are frequent parades, street festivals, and spontaneous sing-along. You are guaranteed to find superb entertainment, some of it free, in Knoxville.
