Car Hire in Halifax - Getting to Halifax
Halifax International Airport has direct services to Montreal, Toronto and St John's in Newfoundland. There are smaller connecting flights available to other destinations throughout the Maritimes. The airport is 39kms from the centre of town on Hwy 102, north towards Truro.
Bus services run from the Acadian bus station located at 6040 Almon St (northwest of the Citadel, south of Robie St), with several lines running through the Annapolis Valley and south down to Yarmouth. There are also connections to New Brunswick, Cape Breton, Nortumberland Shore and Prince Edward Island (via Moncton). For further destinations, a daily bus leaves Halifax at 7am for Montreal and a weekend bus connects to New York.
The VIA train station is six blocks south of the downtown area. Trains to Montreal depart daily (except Tuesday) through eastern New Brunswick. Tickets must be booked in advance.
