Located in the town of Thuringia, Greitz is in the south of the district; flanked by the Thuringian State Mountains and the Ore Mountain, with the river valley going through the district from south to north. Getting there takes approximately 60 minutes from Leipzig Airport (LEJ). Trains run every 30 minutes between Leipzig Central Station and the Airport Zeulenroda Railway station. Rental cars are available as well. If you travel in winter, expect snow and temperatures ranging from 23 – 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

The largest bridge of its kind in the world, the railway bridge was built between 1846-1851 using brick. It took 26 million bricks to construct it. This famous bridge stands 78 meters (256 feet) high and is 574 (1,883 feet) in length.
