Mini guide to Feuchtwangen
FeuchtwangenThe area known as Feuchtwangen has an amazing 87 different divisions within the city. Dating all the way back to the first known origins in 818, the city has always been a crossroads since it lies in the heart of Bavaria, Germany in the central southern portion of the country. The Sulzach River runs through Feuchtwangen, and this is one of the main reason the area has been populated for so long. Since these earliest of times, a monastery and a village have been present, and only drastically changed its face during the early 20th century. During World War II, much of the city was demolished, and much of the city’s architectural history was destroyed as well. Only until very recently has the city been fully rejuvenated and growing as an administrative center for Germany.
Just a few years ago, a Bavarian casino was opened in Feuchtwangen bringing thousands of visitors and hundreds of jobs to the area. In addition, the Bavarian Building Academy came to town and served as an educational base for the large community. The term “large” refers mainly to the geographic area, since the actual population is around 13,000 residents. The vast majority of the current residents are Evangelical Christians, followed by Catholics, with only 10% practicing another type of religion.
There are several medium and larger corporations which call Feuchtwangen home, and a large number of commuters can be counted among the employees. There are many convenient modes of travel including auto, railway, and bus, with the car being by far the most practical for residents. Commuters find the railways the best means, and visitors like the bus. Popular events and landmarks include the annual Old Town Festival, and Craftsman’s Workshops that showcase the town and the community. The Franconian Museum remains a popular tourist destination, as does the Rohrenbrunnen Fountain which features a statue of Minerva, the Protector of Commerce.
Business is just fine in the city, and the strong economic base is a good indication of the growth to come. The weather is typically moderate with the average temperature around 49 degrees, and the rainy season short making for good building conditions, and tourist business.
