Car Hire Edgware Road - Mini guide to Edgware Road
Edgware sits nearly ten miles northwest of Charing Cross. Busy and fun, it is generally viewed as a shopping area, with some good eating spots thrown in. It contains a large hospital; a shopping centre simple called The Mall, and streams that link to the River Brent.
Edgware Road itself is a busy, major street within the city. Because of its highly cosmopolitan nature, it has earned some affectionate nicknames over the years, such as ‘Little Cairo’ or ‘Little Beirut.’ Still one of the best places to sample Middle Eastern cuisine, it has many late night cafes and restaurants that are well worth investigating.
The late nineteenth century saw a lot of Arab migrants arrive, which led to the Eastern flavour in the area. The Odeon cinema in Edgware Road actually shows many of its films in Arabic. The road sadly became famous as one of the areas hit by the July7th bombings, when a train leaving the tube station was hit.
The famous Church Street market can be found at Edgware Road, where if you don’t find what you want, you might as well stop looking. There is an excellent whiskey bar called Salt. Academia also has a place too, with The University of London having some of its buildings on the road.
It is in close proximity to Paddington station, where you can pretty much get to anywhere else in the country, and has its own tube station, Edgware Road Tube. Here you will find Edgware Road car hire which will give you freedom to explore.
