Car Hire Ealing - Mini guide to Ealing
Ealing is a leafy, reasonably middle class part of London, and is affectionately known as ‘The Queen of the Suburbs’.
The Great Western Railway built in the late nineteenth century, passed through part of Ealing, and gave it its train station, Ealing Broadway. This had a tremendous impact on the town, and made it the popular place it is today.
Perhaps unfortunately for Ealing and its residents, the hospital was ranked as the worst in the country. But house prices are high here (relative to London prices), and the area has a chic, but traditionally English feel.
The famous Ealing film Studios, that gave work to actors like Sir Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers, made the town famous throughout the middle half of the twentieth century, and since then Ealing has become fashionable and cosmopolitan. The building of a shopping centre in the mid eighties changed Ealing forever, with some of the older generation in the town expressing dismay at its presence even today.
Ealing also had London’s smallest theatre, the Bankside theatre, which operated from 1928 to 1956. You will find all the shopping you want in the town and a delightful collection of restaurants and bars that cater for most tastes.
Ealing Broadway sits on the District and Central Lines, and also has a national link serviced by First Great Western. It has nine platforms that link to the whole city via the Underground. Ealing car hire is located at the station.
