The historic yet modern town of Droitwich, just northeast of Worcester, has been popular ever since its natural salt water springs were developed in Victorian times. As Britain’s only salt water spa, Droitwich offers the visitor a wonderful way to relax in elegant surroundings.

The natural brine baths are Droitwich’s most popular attraction. At the Droitwich Spa Brine Baths Complex the mineral waters are used for their unique and therapeutic bathing values. Massage, beauty and hydrotherapy are also available.

The Droitwich Heritage Centre houses a permanent history display, which traces the town from a prehistoric salt settlement to the luxurious present-day spa. The 12th century St. Peter de Witton parish church should also be visited. Although the Saxon church built on this site no longer exists, the church boasts an early 16th century tower as well as fine old stained glass, which includes an unusual portrayal of a pelican.

Take a stroll along High Street and explore the many fine restaurants, pubs, theatres and specialist shops in historic buildings. For fresh produce, meats, cheeses, fruit and bakery goods, peruse the Farmer’s Market held on the first Saturday of every month. Or for unusual crafts and gifts, visit The Jinney Ring Craft Centre.

There are many sites to see outside of the town as well. Discover the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, only a short drive away, or explore the early 18th century Hanbury Hall. This lovely William and Mary-style house is famed for its beautiful painted ceilings and staircase, as well as its orangery, ice house, working mushroom house. The delightful gardens are surrounded by almost 400 acres of parkland.

By rail Droitwich can be reach via Worcester on trains departing hourly from London Paddington station, which is conveniently linked to London Heathrow airport. Motorist have easy access to the area via the M5.
