British Airways flies children for free this summer

British Airways has launched a promotion giving children free travel on UK flights this summer. The window to grab the gratis flights opened last week and will run through until the 13 May 2018.

To qualify, children must be under 12 years old. Up to two children can accompany each fare paying adult on the booked flight. The offer is valid for flights departing between 1 June and 5 November 2018. There is no exemption window for school summer holidays either and the offer still applies.

Free flights are available on routes between London Heathrow Airport and Leeds, Newcastle and Belfast plus Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland. BA and Heathrow are laying out the red carpet for kids this summer with other enticements to fly.

Children up to 15 years old accompanied by fare-paying adults can travel for free on the Heathrow Express to and from London Paddington Railway Station. BA has launched a dedicated family check-in section at Terminal 5 in Heathrow.

Under 12s will be able to get free food at Huxleys and the Gordon Ramsay Plane Food restaurants in Terminal 5. Again the only stipulation is that kids have to be in the company of adults who are required to order main meals from participating eateries.

The Chief Commercial Officer at BA is Adam Daniels. Commenting on the free flights and other enticements to travel, he said it would help parents give their children something to do in the holidays and provide a shot in the arm for domestic tourism too.
