Valentines Day

Category:

Just a heads up but Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and as it’s on a Saturday this year maybe a weekend away is on the books? But where do you go and what do you do? We've got a few suggestions of some of the most romantic locations in Europe below to give you some inspiration along with rough idea of car hire prices to help you budget.

To give you an idea of what you could save by comparing before you book, car hire in London for this weekend could cost you as much as £153.40 or as little as £39.20 for an economy sized car, so don’t forget to shop around for the best deal; or better still let us do it for you. We compare over 50 suppliers for you and don’t add a penny to your quote!

London – Plenty of choice for romantic hotels but what to go and see? Yes the weather is a huge factor but if it’s a beautiful spring day then why not take a horseback ride through Hyde Park with your loved one? Hyde Park Stables offers year-round riding. If the weathers not on your side then maybe spend some time at the Victoria and Albert museum, this was voted Britain’s most romantic museum. You could take a stroll along the Columbia Flower Market on the Sunday and pick out a beautiful bouquet, guaranteed to finish the weekend off with you two smiling. You could hire a car through us for the whole weekend from just £28!

Paris – An obvious choice for Valentines, the most romantic city in the world! Everyone says you must visit the Eiffel Tower but there lies the problem, everybody will be there. More tacky then romantic so maybe you should try somewhere less touristy. If you love music then how about Le Jazz Club, or a night at Cuba Café where you’ll be dancing the salsa? Grab some baguettes and a bottle and sit on a bench and watch the world go by? Unless it’s cold and rainy, then head for a little bistro off the beaten track. It would be hard not to be romantic in Paris on Valentines weekend! Hire a car through us for the weekend from as little as £39 and be adventurous.

Prague – If you don’t want the hustle and bustle of the big cities then maybe Prague will be your answer. Similar to Paris with all the romantic walks along cobblestones and the stunning architecture but on a smaller scale and has more of a fairy-tale feel to the city. The National Theatre is spectacular and would make a romantic evening out, along with a meal in one of the many of the eateries in the Old Town Square. From as little as £31 you’ll be able to hire a car through us to get out on the Saturday to see more of this beautiful country.

Venice – Sticking to the romantic theme then Venice has to be in the top five. What sounds more romantic then a gondola ride through the city and kissing under the Bridge of Sighs. Unfortunately everybody else will be doing the same so to avoid the queues and the huge charges try something less touristy. A water taxi is more fun by the way! If you love music then try Musica a Palazzo, so romantic and intimate. The way to enjoy Venice is to get lost among the many alleyways and just to wander along the canals, stopping for a coffee at the many cafes along the way. Hire a car through us from as little as £48 if you want to get out and about.

Marrakesh – Looking for somewhere a bit further afield and a bit more original, then Marrakesh might be your destination. It’s only a 3 hour flight and the weather will be warming up nicely there in February. There’s plenty to keep you in Marrakesh including Djemaa el Fna medieval market square but if you hire a car (from as little as £35 for the weekend) then you’ll be able to pack a picnic up and drive out to the Atlas Mountains or the Atlantic coast for a bit of time out!

Barcelona – This beautiful city is fast becoming one of THE most romantic places in Europe. There’s plenty to entertain you in Barcelona on Valentine’s Day; romantic sailing trips, wine tasting tours, even Hot Air Balloon trips. Try to see the Magic Fountain show, music and light spectacle that you’ll never forget! If you want to get out and about then hire a car from just £4.00 for the whole weekend!

Edinburgh – Hire a car from us from just £38 for the weekend so you’ll be able to explore more of stunning Scotland. If you drive up to the Cairngorms or across to Loch Lomond then you won’t be disappointed, both places are simply enchanting and the romance will just follow you! There’s plenty to do in Edinburgh itself, cosy tearooms found along winding alleyways, climbing Scott Monument, or strolling along the waterfront. Of course there is always the beautiful castle which provides amazing views over Edinburgh, beware the cannons go off at 1pm ever day.

Bath – If you don’t want to travel too far then try Bath, the whole city is a World Heritage Site. A spa break here is not an ordinary spa break, a visit to Thermae Bath Spa is a must. Here you can bathe in Britain’s only naturally warm, mineral rich waters and then relax in the open-air roof top pool looking out over the beautiful city. How romantic! The city is steeped in history, has some amazing restaurants and you can shop till you drop. It will also be a lot quieter than most of the obvious tourist traps at Valentines. Hire a car from Bath from just £29, grab a picnic and head over to Cheddar Gorge to explore the hidden caves and caverns
