Viersen is a city located in the federal state of north Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The city is famous for its Matserfoods Company. Also the international Jazz festival is one of the main attractions of this town. Contrary to its name which means FOUR RIVERS there are no rivers in this city.

The city belonged to the kingdom of Prussia in the Middle Ages the textile industry was the driving force of development in the late 19th century. The Second World War broke this force and gave way for more diverse trading.

The city has a railway station which keeps the city connected to most parts of the state. The city can be accessed by roads also from the nearby cities.

The city has a population of over 76,000 spread over an area of 91 square km. The city is fairly in sea level with the maximum altitude being just 41m above sea level. The city is made up of 3 different districts.

The city has a good connection of bus service that connects it to the 3 districts and has a main bus station located in the city center where you can change buses that go to different parts of the town. You can also hire taxis to get around the town.
