Porto Heli is a picturesque harbour town on Greece's scenic southern coast. An area of outstanding natural beauty, this modern town offers the visitor first class beaches, spectacular scenery and a vibrant nightlife. Car hire is a popular form of transport, used by many tourists coming to Porto Heli on holiday, great for exploring and travelling to rural areas where public transport is limited. There is so much to see in the beautiful sea side resort town, making it a popular holiday destination.

Explore Porto Heli

Porto Heli is one of Greece's safest harbours and attracts a myriad of water-sport enthusiasts. Visitors can water-ski and windsurf as well as explore the vast bay and its many hidden coves by sailboat. Porto Heli has a long sandy beachfront perfect for swimming and snorkelling.

The ruins of the ancient city of Halieis are located on the southern side of the bay and are best explored early in the morning. The hilltop acropolis affords panoramic views of the bay. In the afternoons, the town's promenade is a hive of activity of locals and visitors alike, with a myriad of entertainment from shadow puppetry to concerts and fairs.

Porto Heli offers numerous eateries. From traditional Greek dishes to European specialties, there is something to suit every budget. In the evenings the famous bouzoukias are open late, with floorshows and loud revelry till early hours, as are the harbour’s many traditional ouzeris.

Porto Heli is ideally located for a number of interesting excursions. In particular, The beautiful island of Spetses, with its abundance of modern, traditional buildings should not be missed. The museum of Bouboulina, dedicated to the island’s heroine, is a must see. There are also two intriguing metal sculptures around the old harbour. Water taxis make the short journey across the bay regularly. The fishing village of Koliada, renowned for its numerous bays and excellent seafood, is also worth visiting.

Transport

Although Porto Heli has a small airport, it is not used by commercial carriers. If you are arriving by air at Athens International Airport there are buses operating daily to Pireaus Port, where hydrofoils travel the route daily, taking around 2 hours. Travelling by coach is also convenient, with many companies making the scenic (4 hours) journey.

Athens Airport also provides car hire in the arrivals area from suppliers such as Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, Alamo and Sixt. Book online for cheaper quotes, a better selection of cars and to save time queuing on arrival.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
