Strikes Hit Flights in Spain and Belgium

Thousands of passengers were left stranded this morning as two thirds of flights in and out of Spain were grounded by a general strike.

British Airways cancelled several flights to and from Spain, with many airlines also having to axe some services to and from Brussels because of separate industrial action in Belgium. Ryanair has cancelled 69 flights between the UK and Spain and all of its internal Spanish flights. easyJet has also grounded half of its Spanish flights.

Flights to and from Belgium were cancelled by several airlines yesterday and today due to a strike by Belgian air traffic this is due to end at 1pm today.

For those travelling to Spain or Belgium, airlines have advised passengers to check their respective websites for further information. We also advise passengers who have been affected to check their insurance policy terms and conditions to see if they are covered for strike action.
