Too Much Clutter on British Roads

The Government has urged councils to reduce street clutter by getting rid of unnecessary signs, railings and advertising hoardings as they believe there are far too many on our roads. While some signs are legally required, the Government is keen to keep signs to a minimum to ensure those in place are as effective as possible.

The number of signs on our streets may be linked to research from last year that stated that motorists struggle to recognise common road signs – perhaps down to the amount of other distractions we are faced with. We thought we’d see if this still holds true with our own little test…
