I phoned to change the

I phoned to change the time for pick up and return of the car. It was not a good experience. I was told I could not do it and encouraged to book an up grade. I wanted to change my booking and return by 4 hours from 10.00am to 2.oo pm. I was told it was not possible to change it. I was told a car would not be available. I said I would take the risk and ended up in cancelling my booking and then re booking on line. Not helpful. I almost did not use your site to re book.

We booked a Yaris or

We booked a Yaris or similar, but on arrival were allocated a larger Hyundai Accent which was too large for my wife to drive. ECCR at Hobart apparently have very few Yaris-sized cars. Fortunately we were going to be passing nearby a few days later so were able to substitute the Accent for a smaller Kia Rio for the rest of our trip, but Carrentals need to check more carefully what sort of cars are actually available - size does matter, and a bigger car than you've booked isn't necessarily acceptable to all customers.

Whatever your budget or accommodation requirements the Madang Lodge motel and apartments can assist. Budget rooms, detached cottages, family rooms and deluxe garden terrace rooms are just a few of your options at this friendly seaside motel. An orchid garden courtyard and waterfront bar allow you to relax among stunning views.

While staying at the motel, you can arrange car hire easily from the foyer. All you will need to provide is a credit card and two forms of identity which are your passport and driving licence. If you are travelling from the UK, don't forget to pack your paper counterpart as that will need to be shown with your photo card.

Car hire during your stay is PGN is essential as taxis are rare sights out of Port Moresby. Car hire will allow your party to travel independently in air conditioned comfort through Madang and the rest of the island.

Madang and its surrounding area cater well for visitors with a number of attractions you can visit during your stay. These include: Madang Cultrual Centre: a museum filled with artefacts and gift shop. Madang Town Market: a colourful market offering crafts and fresh produce. Balek Wildlife Sanctuary: a nature reserve offering hot springs, caves and leafy jungle trails. Wasab Eco Village: a village that offers traditional dancing and feasts, set among the rainforest. Ohu Butterfly Conservation Project: home to giant birdwind butterflies that will land upon your head. A 45-minute drive from Madang.

From Madang in your car hire, travel on the Highlands Highway to get the most that this island has to offer. This one lane road stretch is fairly well-paved and sign-posted and offers a route to Goroka and Lae.

What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
