Comparator urges travellers to book early following shortages in summer availability.

9 November 2009 – With heavy snow already falling in the Alps, price comparison site Carrentals.co.uk is advising skiers to book their car hire early to avoid disappointment, with the summer season seeing many destinations suffering from a shortage in the number of hire cars available.
Destinations where Carrentals.co.uk has seen the strongest demand include Switzerland, France and Italy, with the booking period peaking between 19th and 26th December.
Gareth Robinson, managing director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: “So far this year we have seen many incidents where there has been a shortage in the number of cars available for hire and with the early snow fall we are seeing this year in the Alps, we would advise anyone planning a ski trip to book their car hire as soon as possible to guarantee availability.”
With many of the budget airlines offering affordable flights to some of the top ski resorts, good skiing conditions are likely to tempt skiers to take to the slopes on more than one occasion this season, with pistes having already opened to the public in Austria.
Gareth adds: “With a choice of low-cost airlines offering deals on flights to some of the top ski destinations, we are seeing increasing numbers of people booking their holidays independently, meaning that car hire is in high demand. Booking early can avoid any disappointment and also allows customers to reserve important accessories such as snow chains and child seats – all of which are limited in supply.”
