Not far away from what could be called the most northerly city in France, Boulogne Sur Mer is an idyllic town nestled in a green forest with the sea in the distance. The area was even favoured by Julius Caesar as a place for an army base. Another notorious historical figure who favoured the town - which at the time was referred to as Portus Itius - was the mad emperor Caligula, who used the city in his defense against the Celts and Gauls.

Cathedrals, castles, belfries and other historical buildings make Boulogne Sur Mer a great place to come and soak up some vibes from times long gone by, and with its proximity to the coastline Boulogne makes a great place to get way and relax for a few days.
