Car Hire in Zurich - Getting to Zurich
Zurichs Kloten airport is a busy international airport with plenty of regional flights daily to all major European cities, and several tran-Atlantic routes. Being a major banking city, flights arrive from major cities around the world, but for convenience you may have to route through London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt. Its located 10kms north of the city center, and is well serviced with regular and reliable shuttles to the centre, handled with typical Swiss efficiency. The train also runs from here to Hauptbahnhof station (10 minutes), leaving every 10 minutes from 6am to midnight. Taxis arent cheap in Switzerland.
Hauptbahnhof station is a main rail hub, with regular direct trains to Stuttgart, Munich, Innsbruck and Milan, and infrequent services to destinations further afield. Trains leave almost hourly to Bern, Basel and Geneva. A well developed network services the smaller town, though the mountainous terrain favours roads. Buses depart to a wide range of European destinations, as far away as London, Rome, Budapest and Copenhagen.
The N1 is the fastest route from Bern and Basel, and into France, while the N3 heads south.
