There is a mosque within the cemetery and this was opened just recently, in the year 2004. The Turkish entrepreneur Ibrahim Bodur was the one who donated for it and had this mosque built within the cemetery. This mosque can hold up to five hundred people during prayer and the mosque has been specially constructed to carry out the burial prayers A verse from the Holy Koran is encrypted at the gates of the cemetery that says that every living thing will taste death.
Many notable men like the novelist Orhan Kemal, the comedian and movie actor Kemal Sunal, the political cartoonist Oguz Aral, the folk music singer Ruhi Su, and many others have all been buried here. When tourists come to Turkey they make it a point to visit this burial ground for sure.
