For those who are interested in architecture and buildings of historic importance, the Queen Christine House (now the Municipal Gallery) is open Thursdays between 14:30 and 17:30 pm and on Sundays by appointment and is the perfect place to visit. Its modest red brick exterior is welcoming and dates back to the mid 17th century. The basic structure was once a farm house but was later converted to a chapel. Visitors can take tours around its historic rooms which have beautifully restored period fixtures and fittings.

The Railway museum is another star attraction. It lies on the trail of Wilstedt and has a special travel programme which allows parties to rent a carriage. Some of the track is still used in the trades and often carries wares back and forth, so it is a brilliant location for those interested in locomotion and travel.

There’s a little something for the children too, or even the child in you, with the Zeven Toy Museum (Open Monday – Sunday 14:00 to 17:00). It has an extensive collection of dolls and teddies dating from the turn of the century up to the modern day. Entrance is free, so there’s really no reason not to indulge. Or if your little boys are more interested in getting in amongst the action, why not take them to the Fire Brigade museum in Zeven? It has exhibitions on how fire-fighting has changed and developed over the years and also has educational shows (in both English and German) for the children on fire safety. On display are uniforms, models and pictures, so there’s a little something to keep everyone happy.
