You are now in Wiesloch, a clean, sprawling city 13 kilometers south of Heidelberg in northern Baden-Württemberg. From the looks of it, Wiesloch is just like another regular place in Germany but this large industrial city is getting a fair share of tourists every year. A panoramic view of Wiesloch would show a hilly landscape with downtown area sunk in a valley dominated by vineyards. Adding to the city’s charm are the five brooks of Leimbach, Gauangelbach, Waldangelbach, Ochsenbach und Maisbach which flows on the city’s boundaries.

One bright aspect about the city is that although its industrial area is very large, it does not have an industrialized flavor. In other words, you can still breathe fresh air instead of smog. Home to about 26,000 residents, Wiesloch is an ideal outdoors location. It boasts of a town park with a thick forest providing dozens of walking trails for adventurers.

Also known as a wine city, Wiesloch boasts of a couple of quality local wines which visitors and residents can taste from the local restaurants. When hunger pangs strike or when curiosity about the local flavor strikes, go can go to any of the restaurants, specialty houses and several cafés at the town hall square.

The city pharmacy in Wiesloch was reported to be the first petrol station of the world. This was after Bertha Benz stopped in August 5, 1888 to refill the tank of the first automobile her husband Karl Benz invented. Train services connect Wiesloch to Walldorf and the train serves as the primary means to transport workers to and from the factories.

Your visit to Wiesloch will not be complete without visiting the city’s attractions including the Freihof, an old-fashioned guesthouse, wine cellar and restaurant rolled into one, located in the center of the downtown area.

Other must-visit point is the Old City Wall which follows all the pedestrian districts. Indeed, Wiesloch is a nice place to live in.
