Car Hire Wiesbaden - Mini guide to Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden

Welcome to Wiesbaden, a beautiful and vibrant city in central Germany which is home to sports and arts. Wiesbaden is well known for its superb baths and spas and its hot springs never failed to get glowing recommendations from visitors who had been there.

A romantic mixture of modern and old-world charm, Wiesbaden, the capital of the state of Hessen located on the northern bank of the river Rhine is home to more than 300,000 residents plus over 14,000 U.S. citizens who are mostly with the American military since World War 11. Wiesbaden’s existence reportedly dates back to the Neolithic era. The oldest remaining building is the old city hall which was built during 1609 to 1610. All the other earlier buildings unfortunately did not survive the two fires in 1547 and 1561.

Wiesbaden hosts a treasure of rich historical heritage. These include castles, churches, ruins, and other monuments. A panoramic view of Wiesbaden can be best seen from the Neroberg Biebrich Palace located on the Northern part of the city. Two prominent buildings never fail to catch the attention of tourists in the Schlossplatz or the “palace square"", and these are the ducal palace and the new town hall.

Another attraction in Wiesbaden is the Protestant Marktkirche or the ""market church"" which was built during 1852 to 1862 in a neo-Gothic style. It is also remarkable to note that Museum Wiesbaden, one the three Hessian museums is in the place.

Baths and spas in Wiesbaden is not a new trend. In fact, the thermal springs and spa became famous during the middle Ages. Records show that as early as 1370, 16 bath houses were already in operation and by 1800 the number went up to 23.

Frankfurt International Airport is the nearest airport to Wiesbaden and local trains connect Wiesbaden to the neighboring places of Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Mainz, Limburg, and Koblenz via Rüdesheim, and to the other areas through Frankfurt. Small container port operations are also accessible on the Rhine and Main Rivers.

If you say that Frankfurt is the economic center of Germany, Wiesbaden the ideal place to live in.
