Car Hire West Ryde Suburban - Mini guide to West Ryde Suburban
OLDE WORLD CHARM MEETS THE BIG CITY
WEST RYDE SUBURB, AUSTRALIA
As your plane lands in Sydney, with back to back meetings, you are glad you decided to schedule a little vacation time with your family. In a couple of days, your family will be here for some incredible fun. As you collect your baggage you are so relieved you thought to call ahead to the car hire service and request an auto. What a great start.
Heading to North Ryde, about 10 miles (15k) north, it is hard to think of it as a business trip sometimes. The minute you arrive, with its oozing charm and quaint shops you already feel like you are in another time. It is hard to believe with all the history surrounding it; North Ryde is considered the leading high tech industrial area in Australia.
As morning comes, you actually feel rested. The room is immaculate, and with sleep coming right away, you are ready to start the day. While driving to the meeting, it amazes you how North Ryde mixes the old and new. As one of Australia.s major business districts, and home to numerous corporate headquarters, you are not sure if you should call it a town or city.
Originated in 1876, North Ryde is part of an area initially named Kissing Point in honor of Aboriginal beginnings. As a member of the third oldest settlement in Australia, it began its roots with the opening of the post office in 1885. Adding to its cultural side, the School of Arts and Literary Institute opened in 1901, while opening the Thompson Shop, a general store, in 1904 demonstrated its entrepreneurial spirit. While the majority of North Ryde remained rural until after World War II, the 1960. revolution began its start in the technical industry.
With festivals throughout the year, and noted for starting the international Carols by Candlelight celebration, held each December, North Ryde plays host to the Matta Nature Reserve and Lane Cove National Park. With the beauty of Glenrock Lagoon, it is best known for its part in the construction of the Great North walk. Thinking about the meeting, suddenly it doesn.t sound so important. With access to the rent car service, I think I will skip the meetings and have the wife and kids come a little early.
