Getting to Verona
Its easy to get to Verona by road, rail and air. Verona Airport is called Valerio Catullo Airport, and is located 12kms southwest of Verona. A taxi from the airport into Verona is approximately 15 to 20. A shuttle bus from the airport runs to Verona railway station every 20 minutes from 06:35 to 23:35, and a one-way ticket costs 3.62.
Ryanair budget flights use Brescia Airport, also known as Montichiari or Gabriele D'Annunzio Airport. The airport is located 20kms from Brescia and 52kms from Verona. There are a couple of different bus shuttle services to Brescia bus station. One coincides with Ryanair flights, and costs 15.49 roundtrip. The other runs three to four times a day and costs 7.23 roundtrip.
Italys roads are well signposted. By car, take the A4 west from Venice to the exit marked Verona Sud. From destinations in the north or south, take the A22 and get off at the exit marked Verona Nord.
Thirty-seven trains a day make the two-hour run between Venice and Verona, costing 5.75 one way. From Milan, there are even more connections, with around 40 trains a day, taking two hours to reach Verona at 6.80 one way. Five daily trains arrive from Rome. The trip takes five hours and costs 35 on a fast train. Trains arrive at Verona's Stazione Porta Nuova, Piazza XXV Aprile, south of the centrally located Arena and Piazza Brà.
If you are travelling to Lake Garda from Verona (Porta Nuova Station), trains to Desenzano del Garda run every half-hour and take 20 minutes. Alternatively, a direct bus runs from Verona to Garda, Riva, Malcesine and other resorts.
The main bus station is in the piazza, in front of the train station. Verona is well connected to other areas, including: Mantua, Ferrara and Brescia.
