Car Rental Vancouver - Exploring Vancouver
Central Vancouver is perhaps most easily discovered on foot, bicycle, or through the various public means of transport, but for those more interested in venturing outside of the city, there is much to be seen by car.
Set in thick woods, Lynn Canyon Park offers good insight into the differences between the rainforest vegetation found here, and in eastern Canada. There's a suspension bridge over Lynn Canyon, many hiking trails, and a plethora of picnic and swimming spots. The Lynn Canyon Park Ecology Centre has displays, films and slide shows about the biology of the area. The park is a few kilometres north of Burrard Inlet, and is easily accessible by car or bus.
Mt Seymour Provincial Park is a simple and effective way to escape from the city. A road winds most of the way up to the peak of Mt Seymour, or you can relax on the chair lift. There are several hiking trails and the views of the city and surrounding scenery are beautiful.
British Columbia is a outdoor lovers dream, with its wilderness areas comprising of wooded hills, the rocky mountains and a contorted coastline, characterized by inlets, bays and sounds. Vancouver island is heavily settled on the east coast, but still pleasant, while the rest of the island is unspoilt, particularly the dramatic Pacific-facing west coast. Northwards, Queen Charlotte strait is impossibly scattered with islands and inlets, best seen from Port Hardy, on the northeast of the island.
Heading inland from Vancouver, Whistler is only a few hours away and rightly enjoys a reputation as one of Canadas best ski resorts. Even in summer a drive into the Rockies is a lovely experience.
