Car Hire Vancouver Airport
Mini guide to Vancouver Airport
YVR is Canada's second busiest airport, with some 15.1 million passengers in 2002. YVR continues to be the second largest international passenger gateway on the west coast of North America. The airport links directly with destinations worldwide, including major destinations in Europe and Asia. It is conveniently near Vancouver, located just 13 km south of the city.
There are two passenger terminals, International and Domestic. ATMs, foreign currency exchange machines and full service banks are situated in both terminals. Business hours vary for each place but range from 0530-2200 daily. Post offices and post boxes are also available in both terminals.
Bars, restaurants, fast food outlets and snack bars are distributed across the airport. Both fast-food outlets and regular restaurants are provided, with options including Peak's Lounge, Noodle Bar & Deli, the Jetside Bar and Cheers Bar and Lounge.
Shops on offer include gift shops, newsstands, duty-free shopping and other stores. There are several stores specialising in fashion and clothing accessories, whilst the gourmet will delight in the specialty foods available in Tastefully Canadian and The Fish Market.
The business centre is situated in the International Terminal on the Arrivals level and provides fax, photocopying, laser printing, cellular phone rental, secretarial services, computer workstations, data ports, laptop recharging points and internet ports.
The airport is entirely physically accessible. The International Terminal was constructed to the specifications of an 'Airport Barrier Free Programme' and the Domestic Terminal is slowly being re-adapted to contain many of the 'Barrier Free' disabled facilities.
Customer service counters are located on the Departures level of both the Domestic and International Terminals. Tourist information desks can be found on the Arrivals level in both terminals.
