Car Rentals USA - Weather in USA
The climate is temperate in most of the US. Generally, it gets hotter the farther south you go and seasonally more extreme the farther you are north and inland from the coasts. Winters in the northeast and upper Midwest can have long periods below freezing while it's still warm enough to swim at the beaches in Florida and southern California. The US is most popular with travellers during the summer (June September); therefore to avoid hectic crowds it's better to go during Autumn or early Spring. Autumn is a beautiful time of year, especially in New England and the Great Lakes regions due to the stunning array of autumn colours. Summers are hot and humid as you head east of the Rockies, especially in the south. The large desert plains between the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada can be uncomfortably hot and dry in the summer months. The popular coast of California is pleasant most of the year due to its tropical climate; however the months of June to September are the best for beaching. The winter months are pretty mild here, with wetter weather.
