Car Hire in Trieste - Getting to Trieste
Situated on the Adriatic coast, Trieste has good transportation connections, especially by road.
The nearest international airport is in Venice, from where you can continue your journey to Trieste by train or bus. The nearest airport to Trieste itself is Ronchi dei Legionari Airport, which is located 35kms northwest of the city. There are daily flights here from Milan, Rome and Munich, among other destinations. Alitalia shuttle buses, as well as other public and private bus companies, connect the airport with the city of Trieste.
The main motorways that connect Trieste to other towns in the region are the A4, a spectacular coastal road that leads from Torino and the A23, which heads north from Palmanova to Tarvisio.
Regular trains link Trieste with Udine, from where it is possible to continue to Venice (2 hours, 30 minutes) or other destinations in the region. The station is at Piazza della Liberta, just northwest of the historic centre. For local buses around the area, head for the bus station at Corso Cavour.
