Trier is a city in the banks of the Moselle River in Germany. It is one of the oldest cities in Germany which is believed to have been found in early 16th century BC. The city is a base for World Rally Championship since 2000.

The Romans occupied the city in early 3rd century BC and this can be seen in the city’s ancient architecture. In the middle ages the city had its famous walls built around it. The French troops occupied the city after the French revolution. During Second World War the city was a prison camp.

The city is connected by the federal motorways as well as state motorways A1, A64, B49 and B51.The city also has daily rail connections to its nearby cities like Luxemburg. The nearest airport is at Luxemburg.

The city is located in the center of Mosel Valley and is at a minimal elevation of 110m above sea level and has a population of 103,500 spread over 118 square km. The urban area is further broken down into 19 districts.

The city has a good amount of S-Rail and buses. You can also use the cheaper ferries and boats to get around the town. Taxis are also available for hire in most of the roads in the city. Walking is one of the best ways to see the town.

The city is the home to Rheinisches Landesmuseum a historic museum representing the Roman architecture. The other places include the various stadiums in the city and the Tiger museum.

The city has an average temperature of just over 9 degree Celsius. The city is best suited to visit during the summer when temperatures rise up to 15 or 16 degree Celsius.
