Car Hire in Toulon - Getting to Toulon
Toulon is located in the Côte dAzur province of southern France, facing the Mediterranean Sea. Toulon Hyeresis Airport is situated 23kms to the east of the city centre and is easily accessible by car, taxi and bus. A regular shuttle bus service links the airport with Toulon city, and taxis are readily available but not necessarily cheap.
By car from Italy and Monaco, take the A8 and turn left on to the A57 motorway into the city. From Paris, take the A6 (Paris-Lyon) motorway connecting with the A7 at Lyon and continuing on to the A8. Continue along the A8, turning right on to the A52, and take the A50 into Toulon (840kms).
There are many trains that leave at various times throughout the day from Paris Gare de Lyon to Toulon. Direct trains take four hours and go every two hours. Some trains go via Marseille and take another half-hour to reach Toulon. Other trains from Paris necessitate a change at Lyon and take five hours. The gare SNCF on place de l'Europe lies northeast of the town centre.
The gare routière (bus station) is on place Albert, also northeast of the town centre. Three buses per day arrive from Aix-en-Provence and take 1 hour, 15 minutes. A municipal bus system serves the town as well.
