Mini guide to Toronto
Toronto proudly claims to be Canadas most cosmopolitan and multi-cultural city. Easily explored on foot, it is safe, clean and offers residents and visitors an impressive number of entertainment options.
Toronto's most famous and most visible landmark, the CN Tower, is the world's tallest free-standing structure. Built in 1976, the tower measures 553 metres and offers fantastic views from its public lookout deck (133 stories) and Sky pod (166 stories).
The popular Harbour front centre is a year-round facility, featuring concerts, dance performances, readings, films and kids' shows every weekend and many week nights throughout the year. Finding a place to eat, drink or party isnt difficult downtown in this vibrant city.
The rather odd, but interesting Casa Loma can't be missed, its the only castle in this otherwise modern city, perched on a hill and resulting from the dreams of a local millionaire. Shoppers should head to the worthwhile Kensington Market and St. Lawrence Market, and when the weather turns grim theres a vast underground shopping mall beneath the CN Tower and Eaton Centre, boasting more than 12,000 shops.
Toronto also hosts Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, which pays homage to this country's men and women who have excelled at the highest levels.
The major suburbs in Toronto are: Ajax, Brampton, Burlington, Markham, Mississauga, Pickering, Oakville, Scarborough and Vaughan.
