Terni is a very old city located south of Umbria. The city actually falls on the railway line from Rome to Ancona. It is also known as being one of the most industrial areas in the town of Umbria. The city itself dates back to the 7th century BC. Many wars and battles have been fought here that it considered to be an ancient city with a lot of history. The city of Terni has about 108,000 people as residents and grows during the summer months.

You cannot plan a trip to Terni not see the Roman Amphitheater. This is one of the oldest buildings in Terni; it was built around 32 BC. Another can’t miss attraction is the small Roman gate called Porta Sant’Angleo which is one of the four ancient gateways to the city. The Palazzo Mazzancolli is one of the ruins from the Middle Ages and it is the last one standing.
If you are into the religious aspect of the city then you will love the many churches located around the city. You can start with the basilica of St. Valentino, The Cathedral of St. Maria Assunta that was built in the 17th century. You can also see the Church of St Francesco.
After a day of sightseeing you can sit down an enjoy some of the great restaurants on the town. There are so many to choose from that we cannot list them all. But here are a few that you may enjoy. Colle Dell’Oro, La Fontanella, Lido and Il Pavone D’oro. You have not eaten true Italian fare until you have eaten at one of these restaurants.
