Tamworth is a growing town in the heart of the English Midlands. A Norman castle overlooks a busy community located at the centre of national road, rail and canal networks.
Tamworth Castle is a Norman motte and bailey castle set in the south-west corner of what was a Saxon burh. It is located to dominate the approach over the two rivers which meet below the Castle. Its sandstone walls and superb herringbone wall are believed to date from the 1180s.
Tamworth is a town that has a wide range of housing, education, shopping, health and leisure amenities. Middleton Hall is the delightful former home of Francis Willughby, dating back from 1285. The grounds feature an 18 acre lake, walled gardens, nature trail and craft shops. The Church of St. Editha, built in the 8th cent and rebuilt in 1345, has an unusual double spiral staircase.
The Snowdome in Tamworth is Europe's first indoor skiing attraction where skiers and snowboarders can enjoy themselves on real snow, whilst for those who like to ski on water, there are plenty of lakes and reservoirs nearby where rowing, speedboats, and yachting can also be enjoyed. Oak Farm Craft Centre is a traditional working farm offering lots of activities and some good shopping.

Lichfield and Burton nearby are justly famous, one for its magnificent cathedral and buildings steeped in history, the other for its long associations with the brewing industry. Trains leave regularly from Tamworth Station to London Euston and London St Pancras Station (duration 2 hours). Birmingham, Manchester and East Midlands International airports are all in easy driving distance.
