Car Hire Takasago - Mini guide to Takasago
Located in the middle-south part of Hyogo Prefecture, Takasago city is home to almost 100,000 people. What was once part of the seabed of the Seto Inland sea, is now the modern day Takasago city and consists of eight districts: Takasago-cho, Arai-mura, Iho-mura, Sone-cho, Yonedo-cho, Amida-cho and Kitahama-mura. Till 1954 only Takasago-cho, Arai-mura, Iho-mura and Sone-cho were part of the original Takasago city, but later as the population grew, the other four districts were added to the city.
This city with its mild climate is now primarily an industrial area but also has a cultural heritage with its temples and shrines. Of all the cultural sights here the most popular are the Oshika Floating stone and the pine trees of the Takasago Shrine. The location of the initial settlement is how Takasago got its name. The initial settlement was situated on the delta of the River Kako and 'Taka' meaning high and 'Sago' meaning sand caught on. Hence Takasago is the name of the now modern city situated on the Seto Inland sea.
Takasago city is also called or referred to 'The Bridal City Takasago' since 1998 and this is because the city is the creator of the classical song ""Youkyuku Takasago"" which is most used during weddings especially at Shinto weddings all across Japan. Takasago is also popular for its pine trees, in particular its Takasago pine which are supposed to be paired with the Suminoe pine, but no one knows how.
What was initially a port and distribution center is now a major industrial area. Thanks to the industrialization of the area, the City council has decided to aid the Takasago city in improving living conditions and quality of life of the citizens of the city. Traveling in Takasago city is not difficult even if you are a tourist. But if you think that language and getting around is going to be a problem you can always find a car for hire and have one of the ever helpful locals help you out in figuring out where to go or your trusty GPS system should do just fine.
