Car Rental Sweden - Exploring Sweden

Most of Sweden is undeveloped, and large areas of forest and natural habitat remain.

Gateway to Denmark, Malmo, in the south, is smaller, historical and has an unhurried atmosphere. The walled and cobbled medieval port of Visby, on the island of Gotland, is a living relic, The contemporary ruins of Drotten, St Nicolai, St Lars and St Carin are all within the town walls and contrast with the old but sound cathedral of St Maria.

Öland is an historic island, containing ruins datinf from the Iron Age, fortifications and hundreds of windmills. Gråborg, an ancient masonry ring is an incredible sight. Nearby, Eketorp has been partly reconstructed as a museum, there are also impressive ruins at Borgholm Castle.

Vadstena is beautiful with its lakeside location and the magical landscape of Sarek National Park makes it worth exploring the remote north. Driving through the mountains of Fulufjället from Sarna is beautiful. Its worth stopping to see Njupeskär - Sweden's tallest waterfall (100m).

Jokkmokk, inside the artic circle, is a popular place to see the midnight sun. It has a delightful winter fair (Feb)

Sweden can be expensive, especially entertainment and accommodation, limiting its appeal as a tourist destination, but it is well organised, with a thorough infrastructure for visitors to enjoy the well-preserved nature of this country. There are also very few ‘ugly’ aspects to this socially conscience country, making it pleasant.
