Car Hire in St Sulpice - Mini guide to St Sulpice
St Sulpice
After the renowned Notre-Dame, Saint Sulpice is the French capital’s largest church. The church’s construction took more than 100 years to complete, with building activities having started in 1646. This 113-metre long impressive church is slightly darker compared with Paris’ other main churches.
The location of the church has enjoyed plenty of free tourist promotion since the historic religious building featured in Dan Brown’s best-selling book, The Da Vinci Code, on which the later released movie was based. Since then, huge crowds of travellers have visited St Sulpice looking for the obelisk and the ‘Rose Line’ that featured in the film and book. The church was also where Heinrich Heine, the famous German poet, got married in 1841 and later Victor Hugo wed here in 1822.
The church, dominated by its two towers, represents several fascinating features such as splendid murals painted by Eugene Delacroix. The picturesque square, place Saint-Sulpice, is positioned in front of the church and boasts the magnificent Fontaine des Quatre-Eveques (Four Bishops Fountain)
The bustling, charming French capital boasts a wide range of fascinating attractions which can be reached by private rental. The city’s extensive network of roads means visitors to Saint-Sulpice can easily access other, more central attractions. Each district of Paris represents several local as well as large international car hire companies. However, to avoid paying high hire rates we recommend you pre-book Saint Sulpice car rental online.
