To reach North Sydney, Nova Scotia, use the TransCanada highway, which is connected with major highways across Canada and the USA. From Argentia, take Route 100 to the TransCanada highway and into the city of St John’s. From Port-aux-Basque, it’s possible to follow the TransCanada highway straight to the city.
Marine Atlantic offers a year round passenger and vehicle ferry service from North Sydney to Port-aux-Basques. In the summer months, Marine Atlantic operates from North Sydney to Argentia, Newfoundland, with a 15-hour crossing time. Argentia is about a two-hour drive from St John’s, whereas Port-aux-Basque is approximately 12 hours away by car.
